Bio

Tasos Anastasakos is a Principal Research Scientist in Advertising Sciences at Yahoo! Labs. Tasos joined Yahoo! in 2005 and has worked on matching and prediction modeling in contextual and sponsored search advertising. In his current role, he develops and optimizes large scale machine learning models for Yahoo!'s new generation contextual advertising system. His primary research interests include online advertising, machine learning, information retrieval and statistical modeling.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Tasos was a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff at Motorola Labs where he developed embedded speech recognition systems and multimodal interfaces for mobile devices.

Tasos Anastasakos received his Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece in 1991 and his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, MA in 1997. While completing his PhD degree, Tasos was a research associate at BBN Corporation. His research interests included stochastic methods for acoustic modeling, speaker adaptation, and noise robustness in large vocabulary speech recognition. The results of his dissertation on "Speaker Adaptive Training" have been widely adopted in the development of large vocabulary speech recognition systems.
