Adwait is a Principal Research Scientist in the Contextual and Display Advertising Sciences department at Yahoo! Labs. He currently manages a team that works on problems in click modeling, conversion modeling, and categorization for web pages and ads.

Adwait received a B.S.E. in computer science from Princeton University in 1992, and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998. His thesis was titled Maximum entropy models for natural language ambiguity resolution.

Since then, he has worked as a researcher and engineer at both large companies (IBM, Microsoft) and small (WhizBang! Labs) on a variety of projects, such as speech-to-speech conversational systems, information extraction from web pages, and machine learning to improve search ranking. He has been with Yahoo! since June 2007, working primarily on click modeling for contextual advertising.

Adwait is interested in most things that involve machine learning or natural language processing.
