Bio
My research is primarily concerned with machine learning, information retrieval, and data mining. At Yahoo! I work on diversified web search and search query intent modeling.
My dissertation work was primarily focused on human activity recognition. I have worked with researchers at Intel Research Seattle on systems for activity inferencing and commonsense reasoning. The ultimate goal of this work is a system which may infer information about the state of the home environment based on input from lightweight wearable sensors; this system will be of particular interest in the field of elder care, where it may assist in the monitoring of patients with cognitive disorders.
In the past, I have also done work in computational theory and data clustering.
